The Spirit, however, entered SUPERNATURALLY when we first became Christians and has begun a renewal that is now our “new nature”. So in Ephesians 4:22–24, Paul refers to this sarx versus Spirit conflict as the competition between “the old self” (or “man”) and “the new self” (or “man”).
